Guitar Tab of "Mr. Chess"
(Thank you, Lee!)
Duncan Sheik - Mr. Chess
From the album "Phantom Moon" due out Feb. 27, 2001
Transcribed by Lee McPherson (lmcphers@chem.ucla.edu)
02/16/01

This tab was done entirely from the Conan O'Brien appearance of Duncan Sheik.
I have not even heard the CD version, so this may even be an abridged version
[Webmaster's note: It's not. The tab here is complete.]
Phantom Moon should be a cool album... it will have all acoustical instruments.
Comments and corrections are welcome. (This is my first tab.)

CHORDS - names might be wrong but the fret numbers are ok

X0423X
22023X
33203X
seems Duncan randomly adds the B note, 32003X regular G

#2 just identifies it as 2nd inversion, not a chord name
Duncan does a quick Asus2 strum within the measure, too
same as G(#2)
not sure about this one, sounds ok though
nice chord... also from "Barely Breathing", FYI

Chorus
G
D/G
Am
F5sus2
3X0033
3X0232
X02210
13X0X3

use your thumb to get the base note here
add Asus2 strum for effect here, too X02200
this one is probably wrong but sounds ok, stretch your middle finger out to get the muting for the B string

So I beseech you, Mr. Chess
To let me sleep inside your bed

Would you sleep, too, in the chair?

You see, I dream of many things
Of floating, solitary kings
Of pawns and people with
Blue sequins through their hair

VERSE

Now I beseech you, Mr. Chess
To let me sleep, to let me rest
To let me dream
To let me sing without a care

And I will dream you things so fair
I sing your castles in the air
And I will sleep, too
I will sleep, too
 Am               F5sus2
I will rest... Oh, Mr. Chess... My Mr. Chess...
